I became interested in birth twelve years ago when I gave birth to my daughter, Natalie (see picture below). During my pregnancy, I read voraciously and after much consideration, decided on a home-birth. It was a wonderful experience, during which I felt perfectly supported by my midwives and husband.

Although I continued to be a passionate advocate for woman-centered birth, almost ten years passed before I became a doula. My daughter Natalie has long had a dream of becoming a midwife and when she saw a flyer on the window of our local video store advertising a Doula Training workshop, she convinced me that I should go. I am thankful every day for her encouragement!
